0e76716c5f Delete redundant lambdas around unary functions 
This is not just stylistic, but also slightly faster.  These are all
regular defuns, of course, as this won't work with macros and defsubsts.

1e01ae335d Use read-key in read-multiple-choice (bug#75886)

read-key instead of read-event because read-event doesn't use
input-decode-map.

(touch-screen-pinch): Declare functions.
(read-multiple-choice--short-answers): Call the same functions
directly and prevent the on-screen keyboard from being
deactivated immedately before it is reopened.

Run touch screen event translation on touch screen events
received, and respond to pinch, tap and scrolling gestures.

the details window.

LONG-FORM from 'read-multiple-choice' if GUI dialog should be
used.

(read-multiple-choice--short-answers): Don't append "?" to
CHOICES and don't display the prompt in the echo area if GUI
dialog is used.  Use 'use-dialog-box-p'.  (Bug#61553)

long-form answers instead of single character ones.
(read-multiple-choice--long-answers): New function.
(read-multiple-choice--short-answers): Refactored out from the
main function.

2705fc4ab0 Extend read-multiple-choice to support free-form help descriptions 
* lisp/emacs-lisp/rmc.el (read-multiple-choice): Add a new argument to
override the default help description in `read-multiple-choice'.  Use
the `help-char' variable instead of ?\C-h.  Also support the `edit'
action from `query-replace-map', so that help links can be visited by
entering a recursive edit.

3f03f6284a Avoid infloop in read-multiple-choice (Bug#32257)

non-character events, unlike `read-char'.

f744797af1 Go back to "Maintainer: emacs-devel@gnu.org" 
Restore lines saying "Maintainer: emacs-devel@gnu.org" when there is
no special maintainer for a file.  Although this wasn't documented
it was common practice and removing the lines didn't have consensus.

Mostly, this just removes "Maintainer: emacs-devel@gnu.org" lines,
which are not that useful.  It also cleans up and regularizes a
