University Fields Directory Website (USA English)

Overview

This project is a bilingual university directory website built in plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

It presents universities related to:

  • Technology and Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering / Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Software Engineering
  • Computer Science / Computer Engineering

The page includes international universities and Turkish universities, with field-level links.

Features

  • Light and dark theme switch
  • Language switch:
    • USA English
    • Turkey Turkish
  • University cards grouped by region
  • Field links for each university
  • Clickable homepage title linking to index.html
  • Local persistence for language and theme using browser localStorage

Project Files

  • index.html: Main application page with UI, data, and client-side rendering logic
  • README.md: English documentation
  • README.TR.md: Turkish documentation
  • CHANGELOG.md: Change history in English
  • publish_release.sh: Release publishing helper script used after tag and push steps

How To Use

  1. Open index.html in a browser.
  2. Use the language switch to select USA English or Turkey Turkish.
  3. Use the dark theme switch if preferred.
  4. Click any university name to open its official site.
  5. Click field links to open related department or faculty pages.

Notes

  • Some university websites may apply bot protection on automated checks, but links are set to official working pages.
  • Field links are maintained to prioritize department/faculty relevance and availability.
  • Turkish university names use proper Turkish characters in both language modes.

Release Workflow

  1. Review updates in index.html and documentation files.
  2. Commit changes with signed and signed-off commit options.
  3. Push branch master to configured remotes.
  4. Create and push a new minor release tag (for example, v20260713.1) to GitHub and Codeberg.
  5. Run publish_release.sh to publish the release artifacts.

Latest Documentation Updates

  • Renamed English README file from README_EN.md to README.md.
  • Renamed Turkish README file from README_TR.md to README.TR.md.
  • Synced release instructions across both README files and changelog.
  • Included release script file in repository documentation.
